The dawning of a new community: Karu-Abuja

During our last assembly in the Vice-Province, the sisters unanimously agreed to have a Vice-Provincial house in Abuja, to reduce accommodation expenses during travels and visits. Two flats were purchased and then renovated into a single house. A lot of modifications were needed to adapt it to community life, but the result is there!

The renovation in Abuja has been completed and furnished. The two priests, Fr. Vincent Vinnymeus, the Dean of Karu, and Fr. Primus Anthony Okon, the parish priest of the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, where our Sisters attend mass, sent by the Archbishop of Abuja, His Grace Mose Rev. Ignatius A. Kaigama, blessed the house and the chapel on the 19th of May 2024.

The Archbishop told the sisters that he would find time to visit them, but for now, they were most welcome and that he was aware of their presence in the Archdiocese of Abuja”, Rebecca Odu, Vice-Provincial, is delighted. “This statement is very important to us because of all the protocols involved in moving into a new diocese. We're waiting to find out which apostolate the archbishop will entrust to us, but for now, we are visiting some neighbours, getting to learn more about the environment and the areas around us.
