This year, the Cheras community celebrated several impressive jubilees: 75 years of vows (alabaster) for Sr Rose, 70 years (platinum) for Sr Fidelis and Sr Agnes, and 60 years (diamond) for Srs Bertha, Therese and Winnie. Between them, these 6 sisters represent three hundred and ninety-five years of service and dedication!
These jubilees were celebrated during a beautiful day, which brought together close families, lay collaborators, members of the Nicolas Barré community and sisters. It all began with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, Mgr Julian Leow. It was an opportunity for the jubilarians to renew their promises to continue to live their religious life within the Institute, with ever greater zeal and fervour, for the building up of the Kingdom of God.
"Gratitude is the memory of the heart': together, we celebrated all that our sisters have contributed in the course of their various missions, in the area of education, pastoral and social work, within the Church and in the service of the community," explains Sr Gertrude.
