Bolivia and Peru union!

22 March 2025, Bolivia and Peru reunited into a single Vice Province: an important step in the life of the Institute on the Latin American continent.

Sr Brigitte, the international leader of our Institute, accompanied by Sr Marina, went to Lima to join all the sisters in celebrating the event.

She addressed them as follows:

‘We're going to celebrate this union, because it's not just a matter of organisation. Rather, it is something similar to the day when Father Barré called together the young women founders of the Institute and asked them if they would agree to live in union with each other, without worrying about what they would become afterwards. And they answered: Yes, with all their hearts, we want to and we abandon ourselves to Providence with total selflessness. In the name of our Founder, I will ask you the same question. You may not all answer with the youthful enthusiasm of our first sisters! but with the strength of Faith, of trust in God, and  an everlasting hope.

And why do you unite ? It is in the hope of breathing new life into the gift that God has entrusted to us. In the words of Paul to his beloved Timothy, it is ‘to rekindle the free gift of God, the gift that is in you’.

Our history, the history of the Institute, is a holy history. In calling our Institute to come to Latin America 58 years ago, God wanted to give a gift to his Peruvian and then Bolivian people. The gift he entrusted to us is our charism to live in the service of your people’.

All the collaborators of  Nicolas Barré’s mission in Potosi, Urubamba, Cuzco, O Congate, Lima Collique, Mi Peru, rejoiced with them.  Sr Brigitte then sent them on mission,  to be co-responsible for the vitality and charism that God has entrusted to us.
