Gracious God, we come before you with hearts filled with hope as we begin our Advent journey.
Advent is a season of waiting and longing, preparation and anticipation, turning to hope from despair, seeking light in the darkness, longing for peace in a troubled, war torn and impoverished world.
Waiting for God to come, waiting for others to recognize us, waiting for the healing of wounds, waiting for a sign – in waiting, we trust that something is happening beyond our own efforts, and we are patient enough to let it happen. Waiting is not a passive state, it is an active, open, alert waiting.
For Fr. Barré, waiting was not a mere interval between events, it is an art, a deliberate practice of patient expectation, a sacred time when our hearts are attuned to the divine.
‘Try not to let one hour of any day go by without casting a glance at Jesus, who is your One and Only, your All’ (S.R.31)
Psalm 27:14 ‘Wait for the Lord, be strong, and let your heart take courage’
Blessing: May the blessings of this holy time fill our lives with hope, joy and a profound sense of God’s presence.
