From 18th to 23rd November 2024, Sr Brigitte (General) and Sr Jane (Councillor) visited the Infant Jesus community in Myanmar. They welcomed Sr Brigitte and celebrated her Diamond jubilee with songs, dances, prayers and flowers.
Sr Brigitte and Sr Jane visited the teacher training centre at Pyinya Sanyae where they engaged with the staff and trainees to hear about the current situation and challenges. They also visited a boy's Remand Centre where they interacted with the boys in detention.
Later in the week, the Sisters dedicated time for conversations with members of the DMM (District of Myanmar Mission). This was an opportunity for all voices to be heard. They held one-on-one conversations, small groups (with sisters and/or lay partners only) and in large groups.
Sr Teresia, who leads the community there, said: 'After this visit, we have new directions to work on and follow: such as attentive listening, mutual collaboration, openness to new things, adoption of the synodal mathod/spiritual conversations in our future gatherings. Great prospects!"
