There is a season for everything,
A time for giving birth,
A ime for dying,
A time for tears,
A time for laughter,
A time for mourning
A time for dancing
(Eccles 3, 1,2,4)
Now it is autumn time…
We can sense the coolness in the air. The trees grow restless, the October wind blows through them.
It’s a time to hold the trees close, to stand by them as their leaves fall.
What does autumn teach us?
That we have to let go of things that no longer nourish us…we have to turn the page.
The dry leaves need to fall, leaving the branches bare, so that one day new sprouts can be born. Unless the wheat seed dies it cannot give new birth unless summer gives in to autumn, springtime will never embrace us.
Prayer:
We are autumn people. We are called to be in the process of growing and changing. May our minds and hearts be open to this inner season which is part of us. May we trust you, Autumn God, who calls us to grow. Inspiration from Joyce Rupp
‘Whatever happens, be always at peace and trust in God’ (Letter 61 N. Barré)
