The 10th anniversary of the opening of the St Rose of Lima Mission in the San Lazzaro Centre, in Bergamo, Italy was a joyous and colourful celebration. Drawing on her experience of working for many years in our Vice-Province in Peru, Sr Maria Pia together with Don Marío and Sr Priscilla have been involved in the running of this Centre for Latin American brothers and sisters.
As is usual when Latin American people are involved, the festivities were spread over three days. It was a time of fun, laughter and smiling faces when, with the help of many photos, stories were shared, happy times and difficult moments were recalled and many friends remembered.
Much gratitude, appreciation and love were expressed to Maria Pia and Priscilla for the warmth of their welcome, their support and availability over the course of the 10 years.
The festivities culminated with the joyful celebration of a Mass of Thanksgiving during which Don Marío emphasised the richness that the presence of our Latin American brothers and sisters bring to Bergamo.
The Mass was followed by the launch of a book – “BergAmerica” - to capture the memories and experiences of the 10 years. Together we rejoiced in the warm international community which we hope will continue to grow in the future to an ever greater expression of our Christian family.
